In the 1720s, a vertical version of Roulette was invented in England for a game called Roly-Poly. This game had no numbers, just alternating white and black spaces. Roly-Poly was banned in England in 1745, but the horizontal version travelled to France and by 1796, everyone was calling this game Roulette. This very popular gambling wheel is still known as Roulette till this very day.

The largest wager ever made was during the 29th edition of the Superbowl, a bet that San Francisco would beat San Diego. The wager was an 8 to 1 money line bet and an anonymous wagered $2.4 million at the Mirage in Las Vegas. The 49ers won and the person got a staggering $300,000.

 

9. Did you know how many unique five-card hands you can get from a 52-card deck?

Using combinatorial mathematics, we can calculate that a 52-card deck generates 2,598,960 unique five-card hands, out of which you can have 1,098,240 hands that make up any one pair. The probability of having a single pair is 42.26%.

 

10. Did you know that Las Vegas is the world capital for gambling?

Las Vegas is mostly known for its casinos and gambling facilities. Around 36.7 million visitors flock to this city annually to try their luck in this glamourous city dominated by casinos and neon lights. Seventeen out of the twenty largest hotels in the US can be found in Las Vegas, while you can also find one slot machine per 8 inhabitants.
