New WPT national tournaments

A series of tournaments that will also form part of the famous World Poker Tour have been announced. The tournaments will feature buy-ins that are more accessible to the average poker players, and they  will be known as  The WPT Regional Series in the US and WPT National Series in Europe.

The schedules of the events have been published online and some of the locations have been announced already. Indiana and the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel in Florida are newcomers for the weekend in the Regional Series. The Florida event features a $5,000 buy-in, while that of Indiana is much less, only $1,500.

On the other hand, the National series has scheduled the first event in the Aviation Club in Paris, France which took place in February 2011 with a buy-in of €5,000. Bohemia in the Czech Republic was also a newcomer in this series.

Although the events in these series will be affiliated with the WPT, they don’t have much else in common with the World Poker Tour. Players taking part in these events will not receive points towards the WTP standings, nor will they win seats at the World Championship. These events are merely developed to give players a taste of the World Poker Tour at a more affordable price. You can find the list of upcoming events in the page dedicated to these tournaments on the website of WPT
