From 1983 onwards, Jennifer had small roles in a couple of TV shows and movies such as Liar Liar and Family Guy. She was even nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in her role in Woody Allen's Bullets Over Broadway in 1994.
Jennifer Tilly's Poker Career
Jennifer was introduced to poker like many other celebrities – by playing on TV programes for celebrity poker players. Then she dated professional poker player Phil Laak, who helped her to study the game and served as her personal tutor as well. She emereged to have natural talent for poker soon she became famous.
In a television show in 2005, Tilly stated that she was more interested in pursing her poker career than her acting. In June of the same year, Jennifer won a World Series of Poker bracelet together with $158, 625 in the Ladies' No-Limit Texas Hold'Em event winning over 600 other players. This was followed by another accomplishment three months later – by also winning the third World Poker Tour Ladies Invitational Tournament in Los Angeles.
By December 2008, Tilly announced her retirement from professional poker playing. In her article in Bluff Magazine she stated: "I love poker but greatness in poker is an elusive dream. There are too many variants... I'm not giving up poker entirely... I'm just going to treat it more like a hobby and less like a career."She seemed to resume her poker career in 2010, at which point, her live tournament winnings exceed $660,000.
