Google's Android Market managed to hit the 10 billion application downloads; with 5.5 billion downloaded in just six months, since May this year. Currently more than a billion applications are being downloaded via Android per month!
After quite a slow start in late 2008, Android took more almost a year and a half to sell its first billion apps. After July 2010 Android gained a steady pace, selling a total of 6 billion applications by July, 2011, with another 4 billion sold since then.
To celebrate this milestone, a number of top selling apps are now available for just $0.10c each, amongst which are: Asphalt 6 HD, Color & Draw for Kids, Endomondo Sports Tracker Pro, Fieldrunners HD, Great Little War Game, Minecraft, Paper Camera, Sketchbook Mobile, Soundhound Infinity and SwiftKey X.
This success would not have been possible without the developed the apps, said a post on the Google blog. Developers continually challenge what it’s possible in the gaming world in order to delight and entertain the gamers audience and “For that, we thank them", said the blog.
