Wynn Macau Ltd is the unit that is owned by the billionaire Steve Wynn and is primarily based in Las Vegas. They recently won a land grant for their second resort in this beautiful Chinese city. This is because their increasing revenue is expansive and this means they could expand their connections and casino by hiring more casino operators and building more casinos in the heart of the biggest gaming hub in the world. The government in Macau approved their over 50 acre casino right on the Cotai strip. The Wynn Macau shares for the company were stopped from being able to be traded within Hong Kong.
This decision clears the path for the company to add their gaming tables and hotel rooms in the market. Wynn gets to take home over 70 percent of their own revenue. There are also some other Cotai projects in the air such as those from Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd., Melco Crown Entertainment Ltd., and Sands China Ltd. These casinos are going to increase even more Chinese tourists and residents.
“It’s certainly positive news for Wynn Macau,” said Grant Govertsen, an analyst at Union Gaming Group. “The completion is likely to be at least some three to four years away. The investment will cost $2.5 billion to $3 billion”, Govertsen said. Wynn got to keep over 70 percent of their revenue last year which totaled over $5 billion from Macau. They accepted the terms presented to them on the draft land concession in the fall from the city government for over 50 acres of land in Cotai. The casino operator then went on to pay an initial deposit of $63 million in winter to the city. They have also climbed up 28 percent this year within the trading center in Hong Kong, this is compared to the 14 percent increase for their benchmark Hang Seng Index.
This is an exciting opportunity that is going to take a few months to go underway, but they are expected to bring in a decent share of revenue. Not only will the city look up in employment and revenue, but Wynn is looking to gain even more income. This is something that the residents of the area are also looking towards when it comes to extra revenue and gaining a bit more when it comes to playing on their new tables. For now, we will see how far this goes and take it to the next level. We will continue to follow the story with updates regarding the Wynn Macau casino and resort.
