Online casino crash after opening day

The B.C. Lottery Corporation was the first to launch a legal online gambling casino. The casino which was launched on Thursday the 15th of July lasted less than a day when a surge of web traffic crashed the site.

Playnow.com offered games like blackjack, roulette and craps. Kevin Gass, vice president of corporate affairs said that their load-bearing servers could not handle the job properly and it was overwhelmed by the capacity. The company hopes to have the site up and running again by Tuesday, 20th of July.

The lottery corporation says a number of gambling safeguards have been put in place, including a clock that displays how long players have been online and a pre-set deposit limit, but critics blasted the move.
