Pocono Downs casino is fined over underage gambling

Yes, you heard that headline right. Pocono Downs casino definitely were letting underage individuals gamble within their establishment. It was something that apparently has been going on for some time since they didn't bother to start looking at identification but rather, was letting anyone that looked over a certain age in. This is a big not to do thing when it comes to casinos, especially those that serve alcohol within the casino since people have to be of a certain age to drink as well.

The Mohegan Sun casino in Pocono Downs was fined $80,000 regarding two instances of under-age customers during 2010 and 2011, said the state gambling authority in a report. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board stated that on the 28th of October 2010, a twenty year old and a nineteen year old entered the casino through a valet entrance and they played for around two hours at Blackjack tables.

Also, on the 2nd of January, 2011, a twenty year old man also managed to get through the valet entrance to the casino and he played slots and Blackjack for three and a half hours, also drinking beer while playing.

State law makes it illegal for individuals under 21 years of age to wager, play or attempt to play a slot machine or table game at a casino.

The $80,000 fine is the result of a settlement between the casino’s parent company (Downs Racing) and the gaming authority. It seems that this is not the first agreement between the two parties; the gaming authority also stated that in December 2010, the company was fined $47,000 for three underage gambling incidents. It seems that it’s time for Mohegan Sun to add an extra few security staff at its valet entrances
