Where do celebrities gamble?

Celebrities do not want to be in the open all of the time. This is understandable. So what do they do when they go out and want to have a good time without being bothered by fans? There are many casinos that will cater to the celebrities needs in order to get them to walk through their doors. Sometimes, but only sometimes, you will see celebrities out in the open at the tables but they still usually have their body guards holding you off.

When Holywood celebrities are deciding which casino to choose for a gambling night, they usually opt for exclusive and upscale places that offer more attractions than just gambling. This was noted by Frank Fahernkopf, the president and CEO of the American Gaming Association, who also noted that they prefer to stay close to home as in general, a gambling getaway is shorter than a normal vacation.

Needless to say, Las Vegas is the most popular destination for gambling in the world. And this holds true also for famous movie-stars and other celebrities. It’s just one-hour away from Los Angeles by plane, and there are many other attractions to divert one’s attention from gambling. Luxury shopping, top-class restaurants, lush spas and the very exciting nightlife are obvious magnets to rich Hollywood actors, singers and other celebrities.

So if you happen to be in the Bellagio casino in Vegas and spot a poker room decorated with sparkling Murano glass, then you’ll probably also see some of Hollywood’s stars. Matt Damon, Demi Moore and Alex Rodrigues amongst others, all choose the Bellagio as their favourite gambling spot.

Las Vegas also offers some privacy to the stars. For example in Sin City casino, celebrities can choose whether they want to enjoy shielding from the public eye by gambling in private or play publicly to the joy of paparazzi.

Similarly, The Palms casino, offers gaming rooms in separate areas upon request who want to try their luck in poker, roulette, blackjack or any other games. This 95,000 square foot casino has an exclusive lounge called the Mint that attracts many stars – such as Ben Affleck, Bruce Willis, Jason Giambi, Ryan Seacrest and Pamela Anderson.

Outside of Las Vegas, there was little upscale gambling places in the US prior to 2003, when a luxury hotel and casino called Borgata opened in Atlantic City. This followed by the building of a couple of luxury stores and in a couple of years, Atlantic City started attracting loads of celebrities such as Nick Lachey, Drew Barrymore, Jamie Lynn Sigler and Jon Bon Jovi to gamble at the Borgata. This sophisticated and classy casino is huge – covering an area of has 161,000 square feet and holding 4,100 slot machines, 200 gaming tables and a separate 85-table poker room.

Across the Pacific ocean, famous people tend to frequent the Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia. This is the largest casino in the Southern Hemisphere and has drawn Maria Sharapova, Andy Roddick and Justin Timberlake amongst other celebrities. The main floor is huge, while there are also smaller themed rooms for poker, baccarat and blackjack. Andy Roddick was spotted in the poker room on a number of occasions.

So, next time you’re out for a gambling night, head to one of these top casinos and apart from trying your luck with gambling, try your luck perhaps you’ll manage to spot your favourite Hollywood star on your next table!
